Seth Lakeman - Blacksmith’s Prayer (live at St. Pancras for The Station Sessions)
Just watching this again and wishing I was back there, even though it was bloody freezing. It was perfect.

Seth Lakeman - Changes (live from Bristol Academy in 2010, aka the gig with the massive power cut)
This has been known to make me cry, especially live, which is slightly embarrassing if you’re standing in the front row. Hearts and Minds isn’t exactly my favourite album of his but I do love this song. Everything about it is perfect.
I have no idea why you can hear people talking in the background of this video. It’s so incredibly rude that people think it’s ok to hold loud conversations in the middle of gigs, especially during the quieter songs. Go outside if you really have something important to talk about, or go to the bar.

Them Crooked Vultures - Caligulove (live from Roskilde 2010)
I’ve been wandering around for the last few days with this stuck in my head. It’s just so bloody catchy. It’s slightly odd that I love it so much though as generally organ solos make me want to punch people.

I shouldn’t watch these things, I just make myself sad. If I had got to see this like Richard has I would never shut up about it. Oh well *sigh*.

Seth Lakeman - Kitty Jay (live at the Cardiff Coal Exchange)
I don’t know why there are no videos of the gig in Bristol and only one of this one but in a way it makes me happy as I get sick of people who spend the whole of a gig recording it so they can put some shaky footage on Youtube later. Anyway, the sound quality of this one’s pretty good up until the middle where it starts sounding muffled for some reason. It also features the back of my head bobbing around frantically as I can’t stand still during this song.

Seth Lakeman - The Artisan
Seth plays us two tracks from his new album, ‘Tales From The Barrel House’ in his DIY session, of which one can be seen above, and both over at DIY.
If you didn’t manage to get Tales From the Barrel House when it was on limited release I’ll just say BUY IT NOW. It’s brilliant and perfect and I can’t wait to see him play more of the songs from it live as on the last tour he only did this, More Than Money and Blacksmith’s Prayer.
EDIT: I forgot to say that he’ll be touring Australia soon. All I can say is you better be kind to him and if you can get to any of his gigs then do, I promise you won’t regret it.
Also, he got adorably embarrassed explaining what this song’s actually about in Bristol (hint, as with all folk music it’s all about sex).

The Civil Wars - Sour Times (Portishead cover, live in Lancaster)
No one’s put up anything from last night but I had to post this. It was fun when people started working out what it was last night as it was so unexpected. There was a lot of cheering afterwards, although really for the whole gig everyone was so enthusiastic that I think it surprised them slightly. Anyway, they’re just perfect.

Rammstein - Rein Raus (from Volkerball, filmed at Brixton Academy)
From one extreme in my music taste to the other. This song gets lodged in my brain really easily. The lyrics are actually hilarious if you look them up, although don’t if you’re easily offended by odd euphemisms for sex. Come on though, ‘elephant through the eye of a needle’, how is that not hilarious? I think that’s part of the point with them sometimes, they do love the double meaning and pitch black comedy.

Seth Lakeman - Ye Mariners All (from Cambridge Folk Festival 2010)
Why are there so few versions of this song on Youtube? Anyway, I seem to be in the grip of some pretty powerful Seth Lakeman feelings after listening to The Punch Bowl so today’s going to be one of those days where I listen to nothing but him. He did this as an encore last week with High Street Rose so I was flipping exhausted by the end from dancing too much and my face ached from grinning for about an hour. Come back to Bristol soon please Seth, I miss you already. -
Now I know that there was an awesome version of this done at the folk awards… but this version… OMG…. Seth Lakeman… please release this on CD…. PLEASSSSSEEEEE. It’s so gorgeous!
I think I prefer the normal stripped back version personally but I feel so proud of him for getting the chance to do this. He’s come so far :).
