Trying to get back into drawing again. I need to gather more research really but it helps to get back into things to do some quick drawings. I’m going to try and focus more on textures and different media this time as I felt like my designs for the last project ended up looking a little bit flat in some cases, although I did like them.
Quink and wax resists are my favourite things. I actually realised yesterday that I’d somehow managed to stockpile three bottles of it :). I just like the variation of colour it creates compared to Indian ink which is completely black all the time (as well as obliterating everything in it’s path, making it rubbish for wax resists). Wax resists I enjoy because as you can’t actually see what you’re doing you’re forced to be less precious about it, not that I really go in for in-depth drawing most of the time anyway.

Drawings from a figure drawing workshop I did this morning at uni. It’s been far too long since I did some proper figure drawings so this was pretty fun, although I am a bit rusty and I can never do hands (or faces for that matter).

Back to anatomy again. This one went a bit patchy as it turned out that the purple ink I started off using didn’t actually work with the wax resist so I finished it off with blue ink of a different type and had to go over a few bits again. Overall I do like it but I think it works better with a darker colour.
Could work really well with some redder colours in the wash for accent, maybe? I like the combination, it works better than the solid blocks of colour.
It might be nice to do it so that colours bleed into each other a bit. I’ve got loads of inks and these are relatively quick to do so I could easily do a few simple ones with different colour combinations.

Is it sad that I’m 19 and still drawing with wax crayons sometimes? I kind of like the effect it creates and it’s less messy than using oil pastels for a resist. :)
